The 5th SD Clark Symposium on the Future of Canadian Society, featuring:

  • Neda Maghbouleh, Assistant Professor, Sociology, University of Toronto Mississauga
  • Akwasi Owusu-Bempah, Assistant Professor, Sociology, University of Toronto Mississauga
  • Morton Weinfeld, Chair, Canadian Ethnic Studies, McGill University
  • Robert Brym, SD Clark Professor of Sociology, University of Toronto

Participants will discuss the extent, distribution and causes of anti-Black racism, Islamophobia and antisemitism in Canada but will focus on the institutional and legal facilitators of, and impediments to, racism, Islamophobia, and antisemitism. Identifying these impediments and facilitators will help audience members think and talk about what needs to be done to decrease the impact of the maladies listed in the symposium’s title.
